IMBA Congress 8 to 9 November 2025
In addition, President Ben Jeuring had announced his resignation and was not present at the congress. This raised the question: ‘Will the IMBA continue, or will it go down the drain after 70 years?’ Unfortunately, there were also no candidates for a seat on the board.
Managing Director Willi Jütten actually wanted to resign as well. Due to the chaotic situation, he agreed to continue working for another year and also to take over as chairman. The assembly agreed to this. Benoit Malta will continue to manage the finances for another year, and Michael Fröhlich will also remain on the board. This trio will form the leadership for one year. Willi Jütten commented: ‘The IMBA will be going into standby mode for a year.’
The CAM and DMCU associations had submitted motions aimed at charging riders an entry fee or similar. As participation in European Championship races is already barely affordable for many riders, it quickly became clear that this would not be successful.
However, the IMBA can only continue to exist if the riders want it to. If riders are willing to spend a lot of money not only on the design of their motorcycles, the most stylish clothing and everything else, but also to give the promoters and organisers of their sport the financial means to survive so that they can continue to organise racing events for them.
Because the IMBA is not giving up yet, the sporting regulations and rules of procedure have been amended. There was discussion about how to make the association more attractive. Various ideas were put forward. The MON promised to organise at least one event for women. Otherwise, the 2026 calendar is completely empty. The congress was already concluded on Saturday. On Sunday, after a joint breakfast, the delegations set off for home. The next congress is planned for 13 to 15 November 2026.
Will it possibly be the last?
